Guide to Retrieving Email Headers on Popular Email Clients

Email headers contain crucial details about the sender, recipient, routing, and authentication of an email message. Here’s how you can retrieve email headers in various email clients:

1. Gmail (Web)

  • Open the email in Gmail.
  • Click on the three-dot menu (More) in the top-right corner of the email.
  • Select Show original.
  • A new window will open displaying the full email header.
  • Click Copy to clipboard to copy the header.

2. Outlook (Web)

  • Open the email in Outlook Web.
  • Click on the three-dot menu (More actions) at the top-right.
  • Select View message source.
  • A new tab will open displaying the full email header.

3. Outlook (Desktop – Windows & Mac)

  • Open the email in Outlook.
