cpanel23/17 Server Issue - Hardware Replaced

24-06-2025

2PM - The Linux server NS17/23 has had an unexpected file system issue and is refusing to boot up properly. We are working with the hardware team to check and fix this issue on absolute priority.

Please be rest assured that we are doing everything possible to resolve the issue. Due to the nature of the issue itself, checking and fixing the disks is taking some time.

We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience as we work on this issue.

----------------

3:30PM - Server is up at this time. However, are still investigating the issue and working on the same. If needed, we will replace the hardware and migrate the server.

----------------

5PM - One of the disks in the RAID array appears to be failing. We will be scheduling to replace the same after business hours later tonight.

----------------

10PM - Unfortunately the server abruptly stopped again and is refusing to complete the start up despite multiple attempts due to the failing disk. We have asked the hardware team at the data center to take this up on priority and are awaiting an update on the same.

----------------

12AM - Hardware team is actively working on this issue. We are awaiting their update once done.

----------------

1AM - Unfortunately, the server is not correctly detecting replacement disks or booting up fully at the moment. We have tried moving disks to different hardware as well but it is refusing to detect or boot. It is possible that both disks of the RAID array have unfortunately failed simultaneously. We are still trying to get these disks to work. However, if this fails, we will have no choice but to setup the OS afresh and restore data from recent backup.

----------------

4AM - We are really sorry to update that the disks of the old server had completely failed and refused to even get detected on multiple other servers that we tried. As a last resort, we have setup a new server and started restore already. If you are using external nameservers, please update your DNS record to the new IP 51.81.44.182. Regrettably we were unable to retain old IP addresses as there was no suitable updated hardware available at that location. New server has been setup with updated OS and better performance NVMe drives. As this is a shared server with many domains and a lot of data, restore is expected to take 10-12 hours in total. Sites will start working automatically as restored. Please reach out to us if you are seeing any issue with a site after restore.

11AM - All restores were completed. If you are using external nameservers, please update your DNS record to the new IP 51.81.44.182. Please reach out to us if you are seeing any issue with a site after restore.
