Today, at 4.25 PM, all mailboxes on Linux server NS21/NS11 starting prompting for login and were unable to login to POP, IMAP, SMTP and even webmail. The issue was caused by an incomplete write by a cPanel process to the server domains list file making it entirely blank. This effectively made the server stop responding to mails for all accounts.
The issue is now completely resolved at 5.05PM and all accounts are working fine again after rebuilding the entire accounts list on the server. Unfortunately, some mails received during this period may have bounced back to senders and cannot be retrieved as it would be on the sending server itself (and would need to be resent). We regret this unforeseen issue caused by what appears to be a bug and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this issue.
The issue is entirely resolved now and the server is responding normally again.
