Simple Guide: How to restore a website and database using JetBackup in cPanel
To restore a website and database using JetBackup in cPanel, follow these simple steps:
Website Files Restore (Home Directory)
- Login to cPanel.
- Scroll down and click on “JetBackup 5” or “JetBackup”.
- Click on “File Backups” or “Home Directory”.
- Choose a backup date you want to restore from.
- Click the “Restore” or “Restore Files” button.
- Confirm the restore when prompted.
Database Restore
- In JetBackup, go back to the main menu.
- Click on “Database Backups”.
- Find the database you want to restore.
- Choose the date you want to restore from.
- Click “Restore”, then confirm.
Notes:
- Restoring the Home Directory will bring back website files (HTML, PHP, WordPress files, etc.).
- Restoring the Database brings back the site content/settings if it’s a CMS like WordPress.
- If unsure which database belongs to your site, check the website’s configuration file (like
wp-config.php
for WordPress).
This process typically takes a few minutes. Once both are restored, your website should be back as it was on the selected backup date.
